During the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination, certain actions or items are typically not allowed to maintain the integrity and fairness of the exam. These regulations may vary slightly depending on the specific rules set by JAMB, but common restrictions include

JAMB has released the list of strictly restricted/prohibited items

1. **Possession of Unauthorized Items**: This includes electronic devices such as mobile phones, calculators, smartwatches, and any other gadgets that could aid in cheating.

2. **Communication**: Talking or communicating with other candidates during the exam is strictly prohibited.

3. **Leaving the Examination Hall Prematurely**: Candidates are usually not allowed to leave the examination hall until the allotted time for the exam is over, except in cases of emergency.

4. **Cheating or Attempted Cheating**: This includes copying from other candidates, plagiarism, or any other form of dishonest behavior.

5. **Disruptive Behavior**: Any behavior that disrupts the exam environment or disturbs other candidates is not allowed.

6. **Unauthorized Writing Materials**: Candidates are generally required to use only the materials provided by the examination authorities, such as question booklets and answer sheets. Bringing in extra paper or writing materials may be prohibited.

7. **Unauthorized Access to Exam Materials**: Attempting to gain unauthorized access to exam questions before or during the exam is strictly prohibited.

8. **Late Entry**: Candidates who arrive after the specified start time for the exam may not be allowed to enter the examination hall.

9. **Use of Notes or Books**: Bringing in any unauthorized notes, textbooks, or other study materials is typically not allowed.

10. **Impersonation**: Attempting to take the exam on behalf of someone else or allowing someone else to take the exam in your place is considered impersonation and is strictly prohibited.

These rules are put in place to ensure fairness, integrity, and security throughout the examination process. Violating any of these rules can result in serious consequences, including disqualification from the exam or other disciplinary actions. It’s essential for candidates to familiarize themselves with the specific rules and regulations provided by JAMB before taking the exam.

As we gear up for the 2023 JAMB CBT mock and main exams, candidates are to note that there are items they are not allowed to bring to the exam hall.

According to JAMB, this is to ensure that the Board’s examinations meet the best global practice. Candidates who bring any of these items to the hall would be disallowed from taking the UTME.

Candidates are hereby required to properly examine the list and take note of the prohibited items, in order to avoid complications during the UTME exercise. Instructions on Biometric Verification

1. Biometric Verification will be the only mode for the admittance of candidates into the examination centre. Strict adherence to the guide on compulsory biometric verification of every candidate is required.

2. No Candidate should be kept waiting if he/she cannot be verified.

Such a candidate should be recaptured at the centre before leaving. ONLY genuine cases will subsequently be treated.

3. There is no other Attendance Register apart from the biometric verification.

Biometric verification will also serve as Attendance Register during examinations.

4. Photo Albums will only carry pictures with no marking points for either Present or Absent status.

5. All Examination Officials, including the security agents, are to ensure compliance with all guidelines, rules and regulations on the examination.
